1962 “House of Tomorrow” for Sale in Palm Springs
This Palm Springs property may be most famous as Elvis and Priscilla’s honeymoon cottage, but for us it’s a perfect vision of the future through the lens of 1962. It was designed by William Krisel and built for Robert Alexander of the Alexander Construction Company. The Alexander company itself built more than 2,000 modern Southern California homes during the mid part of the last century.
The house is 5000 square feet, and has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Multiple circular living spaces are stacked over several levels and the front of the home is cantilevered over the lawn. The interior is full of windows, exposed stone, and organic shapes. Even the stovetop is circular. It’s like Bob Hope meets Logan’s Run.
Elvis rented the home from 1966 to 1967, and reportedly the house comes with copy of the lease. On the market three years ago for $9.5 million, it’s now asking just $5.9 million. Jump on it!
